Study Abroad in Thailand: Winter 2027

We conduct annual Study Abroad adventures to Chiang Mai, Thailand. This trip is reserved for a select group of advanced level Thai massage students. Students must – at a minimum – complete the required pre-requisite classes: Thai Massage 3 Day Intensive and Thai Massage Weekend Immersion.

Our application process for the 2027 trips will open on April 1, 2026. At that time our updated application will be available to download on this page. Our staff will review applications and thoughtfully determine the best candidates based on experience and goals for attending. Applications for 2028 will be open in spring of 2027.

The dates for 2027 are:
1st cohort: January 14 – 25 *Leader: Jill Burynski
2nd cohort: January 28 – February 8 *Leader: Heather Marie Rowell

**you do not get to choose which dates you get to go on. If you have a strong cohort preference you can list it in your application but it is not guaranteed.

What classes do I need to have taken to qualify for Study Abroad?

You must have completed or be registered for both of the following courses:

Can I bring a companion?

Yes! We have space for up to 5 companions per cohort. Once companion spots are full – you can have them join the wait list.

Companions must also complete an application. The companion application can be found on the Thailand Study Abroad page.

Do I need to have my passport when I apply?

No. You do not need a passport to submit your application.

However, we strongly recommend applying for your passport as soon as possible. Passport processing can take time, and you will need a valid passport for international travel.

Please send us your passport information as soon as you receive it.

Should I send in my deposit with my application?

No. Please do not send your deposit until your application has been reviewed and approved.

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Each application is reviewed, and we select the most qualified applicants for the Study Abroad program.

Once your application has been accepted, we will provide instructions for submitting your deposit.

Are there required vaccines for travel to Thailand?

There are no vaccines specifically required for U.S. citizens traveling to Thailand.

However, vaccination recommendations can vary depending on your individual circumstances and travel plans. We recommend checking current travel health recommendations with your healthcare provider or the CDC before traveling.

When can I submit my application?

Applications open in the spring for the winter Study Abroad trip the following year.

You can submit your application anytime once the application period opens. However, the trip often fills by the summer, so we encourage you to apply as early as possible.

If the trip is already full, we still encourage you to join the waiting list. Spots can become available as plans change, and people on the waiting list will be contacted if an opening occurs.
